Other Programmes of IAPT

Orientation Programmes/Seminars/Workshops for Teachers

These are organized regularly by Regional Councils in both, theoretical and Experimental Physics. A number of such programmes have been carried out with the support from MHRD, Infosys Foundation and other such agencies.

National Conventions

A 3-day national Convention is organized every year, since 1984, on some specific theme. Papers are presented by members and lectures are delivered by experts in the field. Presentation of innovations in teaching methods, demonstrations and lab experiments is a regular feature in all conventions.

Regional Councils also organize regional conventions at their convenience. Teachers’ talent in various aspects of Physics education is identified and rewarded by organizing contests during conventions.

IAPT Bulletin

IAPT publishes a monthly journal (32 to 36) pages, which has a record of uninterrupted publication since March 1984. Besides reporting IAPT activities, it also carries articles on developments in Physics and Physics education. Free to its members, it also serves as a vehicle of expression and communication amongst the members. It can be subscribed for libraries of schools, colleges, universities. etc To increase its reach it is being made able on this website in a downloadable format(pdf).

ELCB Programme

Under this programme life members are offered quality physics books at a considerable discount, under arrangement with publishers. The aim is to help teachers build up their personal libraries.

Evaluation of Experimental Skills

IAPT has started this evaluation with NSEP and NGPE, examinations since 1992, essentially to stress the point that no evaluation of a science student is complete without inclusion of an assessment of experimental skills.
